Harvest Time’s mission is to bridge the gap of food insecurity in our community, one family at a time. Since 1998, we have been supporting diverse households in Merced.

Our History

Decades before Harvest Time existed, an idea began forming in the heart and mind of a young boy. Floyd Roland had long, lonely hours in which to think and dream. Hungry and often alone, he was forced to mature faster than his years. Memories of other hungry children during the Great Depression were forever etched in his mind. His wishful thinking later became a firm conviction that “No Child Should Go to Bed Hungry.”

This belief later became an unwavering resolve and the driving force behind his successful business. The more money he made, the more he could donate to programs such as “San Jose Neighbors That Care.” Upon moving to Merced, he and his wife Ione could finally focus on their vision to help alleviate hunger. Harvest Time became a 501(c)(3) non-profit and was given its official IRS issued “Birth Certificate” on May 7, 1998. Today, we keep the Rolands’ vision alive through regular food distribution to families in Merced.
